Day 1 Bombay
Arrival in Bombay, meet at airport and transfer to hotel. Check-in at noon with
the evening to relax. Day 2 Bombay
After breakfast explore Bombay, the" Gateway of India", which is the
commercial capital of India as well as India’s major port. Later in the
morning, visit Elephanta caves; a fine cluster of 6th-8th century rock-cut caves
with magnificent sculptures and temples In the afternoon, tour the major sights
in the city, the Dhobi Ghat, Tata Institute, Rajabai clock tower and the High
Courts in the Gothic architectural style, Marine Drive (also known as "Queen's
Necklace"), the Aquarium, Kamla Nehru park, Hanging gardens, Mahalaxmi temple,
Haji Ali's tomb, Mani Bhawan, Crawford market, and the Prince of Wales museum.
Day 3 Bombay - Madras
In the morning, transfer to the airport for a flight to Madras now known as Chennai. On arrival in
Madras, transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, a city tour of Madras. Madras, is
the gateway to the sunny south, the capital of Tamil Nadu has also been the seat
of an ancient civilization. The city of Madras extends over an area of nearly
90 sq. kms, and is the third largest city of India. It has withstood the pressures
of modernization to some extent and even today retains an old world charm, which
has an instant appeal to the visitor Sightseeing in Madras includes a visit to
the National Art Gallery and museum, Fort St Mary's Church, a drive along the
Marina beach, the San Thone cathedral, the Mylapore Temple and the Victoria Technical
Institute.
Day 4 Madras
After breakfast start a full day visit to Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram Mahabalipuram,
also known as the seven pagodas, Mahabalipuram is 85 kms. from Madras. The important
monuments to be seen are the five Raths, the bas-relief on a huge rock popularly
known as Arjuna's penance, the Mahisasura Mandapam, the Krishna Mandapam and the
Shore Temple. Kanchipuram, the Golden City is 76 kms. Southeast of Madras and
has a long history. Buddhism, Jainism and later Hinduism contended for supremacy
in the ancient city for centuries. It is noted for its temples and shrines. There
is a group of Jain temples of Tiruparutipuram dating from the 9th to 16th century
A.D. Even older are the two great temples of Shiva and Vishnu, namely the Kailashnath
and the Vaikunthanath Perumal temple with its lofty towers and fine porches, built
by the Pallava kings.
Day 5 Madras-Cochin
Transfer to airport for flight to Cochin. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 6 Cochin
Explore the wondrous city of Cochin. Sightseeing includes visits to the Cochin
Harbour Terminus, Mattancheery Dutch Palace, Synagogue in the Jewish section,
Fort Cochin area, St. Francis Church and Chinese fishing nets. At Ernakulam, see
the public gardens, colleges, high court building and Broadway shopping centre.
In the evening visit a local theatre and enjoy Kath kali dance show. Kath kali
is one of the most famous classical dance forms, and special highlights are the
dresses and make-up.
Day 7 Cochin
After breakfast board riverboat to cruise the backwaters of Kerala. Pass through
the coconut groves and quiet lagoons, a gift of the gods to Kerala. Visit Bolghatty
Palace, the beautiful Dutch colony built in 1744, Vypean, and Vallarpadom. See
tiny fishing hamlets and their residents in colourful costumes.
Day 8 Cochin-Bangalore
Morning transfer to airport for flight to Bangalore. Afternoon, take a city tour
of Bangalore. Bangalore is the capital of Karnatka, and is known as the garden
city of India. The Lalbagh gardens are particularly beautiful and have some of
the largest collections of exotic Indian tropical and subtropical plants and lotus-filled
pools.
Day 9 Bangalore-Mysore
After breakfast driven to Mysore distance of 150 KMS- 04 Hours. Enroute visit the historical town of Srirangapattnam. This island fortress was once the capital of the warrior king Hyder Ali and his son, Tipu sultan, the Lion of Mysore. In the evening, visit the Brindaban gardens; with special lighting and musical fountains, it transforms itself into a fairytale land.
Day 10 Mysore
After breakfast explore Mysore; the political capital of the Wodeyar dynasty.
Mysore is a city of palaces, gardens, shady avenues and sacred temples and retains
some of the charm of the old world. Its many institutions propagate carnatic classical
music and dance. Visit the Mysore palace, the Jaganmohan palace, Chamundi Hill
and St. Philomena's church.
Day 11 Mysore - Bangalore - Bombay
After breakfast transfer to Bangalore airport for flight to Bombay.
